5:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays (by appointment

The Whittier Public Library
provides free basic service and equal access to all the citizens.
Its primary function is to satisfy the information needs of
the community. Those needs include the leisure, cultural,
and educational interests of the residents. The library collection
represents a broad range of ideas and viewpoints and contains
over 250,000 items in a variety of formats including books,
audio cassettes, videos and compact discs. In addition, the
Library has public internet access, information retrieval
systems, microforms and public access personal computers.
Professional staff at both the
Central Library and the Whittwood Branch Library offer a variety
of services in both adult and children's services. Adult services
provides reference research on all subjects, including current
sources of business information, consumer and employment information,
inter-library loans materials anywhere in the United States,
and access to state-wide reference centers. Children's services
provides research assistance for children, as well as programs
to promote literacy such as Preschool Story Time and Summer
Reading Club.
