Park Locations and Facilities

Below is a list of City Parks along with the accomodations at each site. In some cases facilities can be reserved for use by the public but most are available on a first-come first-served basis. In some cases the park may be quite small, please call the Parks Department for additional information. Petting zoos, pony rides, amusement rides and concession sales are not allowed at any City Park. Parks are generally open between Sunrise and 10:00 p.m. except where noted. Greenway Trail	The Greenway Trail is a bicycle/pedestrian trail which has replaced an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The Greenway begins in the northwest corner of Whittier, near the 605 Freeway, and closely parallels Whittier Boulevard. When it reaches Painter Avenue, it travels along Lambert Road to Mills Avenue, which is where the right-of-way ends. There is an active rail line traveling east from Mills to the City limits, and Whittier hopes to eventually acquire an easement along this line to take the trail to the City limits and link the Greenway to Orange County. Construction of the Greenway Trail began in 2006, and the trail was completed on January 31, 2009. The trail passes through residential, commercial, and industrial land, connecting the various areas of the community and allowing residents and visitors to hike or bike through town. Hoover Fountain Beverly Blvd at Workman Mill Rd.	Passive park. Decorative fountain and artwork.
J.G. Whittier Park 7227 Whittier Ave. Whittier, CA 90602	Play Equipment, Picnic Tables, 1 Barbeque, Restrooms, Spray Pool, Softball Field.
Friends Park Complex, Joe Miller Field, Skatepark, Community Theatre and Whittier Community Center 7630 Washington Ave. Whittier, CA 90602 Mar Vista St. and Washington Ave.	Skatepark, Softball Diamond, Restrooms. Open Sunrise to 11:00 p.m. The Community Center is normally open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.For more information please call the Community Center at (562) 464-3430. The Whittier Centre Theatre is a modern, 400 seat theatre featuring state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. Other amenities include a luxurious lobby with snack bar/kitchen, an inner foyer with a fully secure box office, professional dressing rooms and fully-lighted make-up tables. Capacity is 150. Pool Rental Our pool is available for parties (June – August Only). Fees based per hour and the number of participants. Fees include use of pool and lifeguard service. Parnell Park 15390 Lambert Rd. Senior and Community building. The Parnell Park facility is available for rental Monday - Sunday. Reservations may be made six months in advance.
